A Whitby care home will again be represented with a finalist at the Great Yorkshire & Humberside Care Awards.
Alison Bedford from Peregrine House has been shortlisted to win the coveted title of Care Home Registered Manager of the year at the prestigious award ceremony to be held at The National Railway Museum in York on 9th November.
Alison has spent much of her working life at Peregrine House. Starting in the kitchen in 1999 she made a meteoric rise through the home as she displayed exceptional caring and organisational skills, to become Manager in 2003.
She is utterly dedicated to guaranteeing the residents of Peregrine House are happy and well cared for, ensuring the whole team has the training and resources to achieve this consistently and to a particularly high standard.
Along the way she has acquired Excellent Awards and their associated three stars, the Investors in People GOLD Award and has been a finalist before at the Care Awards.
Alison is married to Graham, a policeman and has two daughters, Alex, 20, a chef and Jade, 19, a beautician. When she is not working she enjoys long walks with her dog Robbie and even longer walks to raise money for several charities.
Dr. Kevin O’Sullivan who, with his wife Teresa, owns the acclaimed Peregrine House said “We are very proud of Alison’s achievements. To have been shortlisted from several hundred care homes in the region is impressive in itself and we hope that her commitment to the care profession will be rewarded on the night by her clinching the award. ”
Peregrine House itself has a string of accolades including an Investors in People Gold Award, Excellent and Three Star rating from the Care Quality Commission and is a Dignity in Care Champion.
