Dormer Place in Leamington Spa has been chosen as a prime town centre location for a prestigious architect practice to expand into the town, bringing a reputation for excellence reflected in a number of awards.
Rickett Architects have been based in Everdon in Northamptonshire since they were first formed in 1972. Managing Director Dan Rickett, however, has lived in Leamington since 1998 and designed and built his former home on Kenilworth Road in 2003. He has been commuting back daily to their rural office complex on the family farm ever since. As the firm has developed exponentially to take on more clients the demand for a town centre office has grown, with Leamington as the obvious choice.
Dan explains “The practicalities of my forty minute drive each way every day have played a significant part in the decision to open a new office here and our new Leamington base will complement the growing demand for our expanding client base in the West Midlands.”
The first floor open plan offices at 13 Dormer Place are part of a handsome Grade 2 Listed Georgian terrace overlooking the Royal Pump Rooms and gardens, providing a convenient and attractive venue for client meetings as well as a pleasant working environment for the Rickett team of RIBA accredited technicians and consultants.
With some staff remaining at the Wood Farm office, the expansion into town also presents an opportunity for some exciting new employment opportunities based in Leamington. Already cultivating young blood in the firm, Dan has ensured that traditional skills of his father Anthony Rickett, who originally founded the business, are complemented by new techniques, forward thinking and cutting edge design.
At the forefront of many of the firm’s schemes is their measured and commercial approach to sustainability and energy
efficiency and the team are interested to work with individuals and businesses in the area who are similarly motivated. At the same time the practice operates a proactive strategy of land finding, appraisal and promotion of development land. Working with sister company,
Cawdor Capital Ltd, Dan and his team source equity funding for a number of developments and manage that investment to deliver above market returns.
