Opportunist thieves struck at a brand new Ilkley business on Tuesday 9th, managing to steal a Christmas door wreath on display outside Erica Berry Flowers on Railway Road just days after the shop’s charity launch event.Staff from a neighbouring business saw two women acting suspiciously, hurrying away with the wreath and getting into a dark VW parked around the corner on Trafalgar Road.
The incident happened at dusk while Erica and her staff were busy preparing Christmas decoration orders inside the shop, which only opened two weeks ago.
The handmade fresh Christmas wreath, made of winter foliage, berries and seed pods was on sale at £40.
Erica said “It is disappointing that this has happened just as we getting started and a lesson to us to be more vigilant. It’s also ironic as we particularly chose Ilkley as a respectable shopping environment ideal for bespoke floristry. Fortunately we have lots of other lovely ladies visiting the shop so we do hope that this is a one-off incident.”
