As the Pennine Way reaches its half-century on 24th April, celebrations are underway on Malham Moor to commemorate its opening ceremony in 1965. The team at High Trenhouse are among those toasting the pioneers whose vision and determination brought the footpath into being and to the many people who have taken the challenge to hike the distance.
This year also marks the 25th anniversary for the corporate venue which opened in 1990. Home to the Centre for Management Creativity, John Varney and Bernadette Schutte and their small team at High Trenhouse have brought many high-flyers from major corporations out of their boardrooms and onto the internationally acclaimed footpath as part of their inspirational get-away.
When organisations such as BASF, TNT, the Co-operative Bank, ASDA and Yorkshire Water have needed to tackle strategic change, their senior teams have spent time out at High Trenhouse and exploring its spectacular setting. Far away from the bright lights, time-out for thinking and reflection enabled them to meet challenging situations with fresh minds.
Providing exclusive use of High Trenhouse as an idyllic venue for business and leisure organisers to facilitate their own escapes, this year the team plans to give each group who stays a copy of The Pennine Way by Tony Hopkins to mark the joint anniversary.
