It has been announced that a special two-day event celebrating the Nissan Figaro’s 25th anniversary is to take place at Wroxall Abbey Estate, in the West Midlands. A fun filled ‘Big Party Weekend’ for the cute car is to be held on June 4th & 5th 2016 – featuring over two hundred fabulous Figaro cars and their devoted ‘Figgy’ owners gathered to honor the collectable car.

The abbey and its beautiful grounds will play host to this motoring extravaganza, which includes a glittering gala dinner dance and vintage themed Figaro Fair. Other family, fun filled activities include treasure hunts and live entertainment; The Function, a live big band, will play music including songs from the 50s and 60s era in keeping with the car’s retro style.

A special Figaro Car Rally featuring all the cars will take place on the Sunday. Drivers will take to the tarmac driving along Birmingham Road (A4141) and Old Warwick Road (B4439), to pay homage to the popular little car.  The event is set to be a spectacle for both enthusiasts and the public, with many of the Figaro’s having undergone loving refurbishments and now hosting a range of vibrant colours and customizations.

The Figaro Owners Club is thriving with many members worldwide and its founder Kevin Fagan, who is behind this unique event, is hoping that locals will join the celebrations and help make the weekend memorable for everyone taking part.

He said, “We are really delighted to be holding this special event at Wroxall Abbey. We have car owners coming from across Europe to celebrate the fabulous Figaro. Situated in the heart of England, Wroxall’s beautiful abbey makes it the ideal location to celebrate in true style, and we look forward to taking the Rally Drive Out onto the roads to create a magnificent motoring spectacle. We anticipate this could be the largest gathering of Figaro’s to ever have taken place.”

The Figaro car was launched in 1989 at Tokyo’s Motor Show. Designed by Shoji Takahashi, it was manufactured by Nissan, but sold without the Nissan name. Built with a Micra chassis, engine and added turbo, they were the first cars to have a CD player, and were luxuriously equipped with leather seats, air conditioning, an open roof and bags of style. Only 20,000 were manufactured but despite the limited production numbers and having never been sold outside of Japan, the cars have seen a significant rise in popularity in the UK over the past few years and import numbers have rocketed.

Members of the public interested in the Nissan Figaro, and who wish to know more about the classic car are welcome to attend the event on Sunday. Gates open from 10.00.
