The Pentelow Practice, a leading wealth management practice based in Yorkshire, helped to bring the UK’s favourite children’s authors to meet young readers at the inaugural Broughton Hall Children’s Literature Festival.
The Practice, which is amongst the top representative practices of St. James’s Place Wealth Management, was a major sponsor of the Festival, helping over 2000 schoolchildren across North Yorkshire to discover books, reading and writing. The firm funded tickets for pupils from eleven primary schools to attend the Festival at Broughton Hall, a picturesque country estate which is home to the firm’s rural offices and counterpoint to their city headquarters.
Managing Partner Emma Pentelow visited one of the participating schools, Greatwood School in Skipton, and childhood literacy champions, including Clare Balding and Chris White, joined with The Pentelow Practice during the weekend Festival.
The writer is renowned for his sporting stories and “One of the best football writers of our time” according to The Guardian newspaper.
The mother of two enthusiastic young readers, Emma Pentelow explained “It’s been great to be able to be part of this fantastic initiative to promote children’s reading. A passion for books is vital in fostering literacy in the next generation and this was a fantastic opportunity for the children to meet and listen to authors who’s names they have seen in print.”
As well as supporting the Festival with funding for the local ticket giveaways to schools, The Pentelow Practice ran a Little Authors writing competition for the children of its private and corporate clients in the run-up to the Festival.
