Drake & Macefield Butchers was invited to take part in The Battle of the Butchers at The Great Yorkshire Show this year as one of nine participating butchers from across the UK. The team had great fun and the judges were impressed with their skills.
On Tuesday, the opening day of the show, Steve Teal and Andrew Teal competed in the first heat against other butchers with 2 hours and 45 minutes to prepare a display of innovative meat products using meat and ingredients provided.
Escaping the deluge outside, there were plenty of people inside the competition area watching them at work including some enthusiastic customers cheering them on.
The team was awarded Best Innovative Burger, Best Innovative Chicken Product and Best Innovative Pork Product.
On Friday in the Finals of the competition their Mexican Beef Truffle Burger was awarded ‘Best Innovative Burger – Overall Winner’. Burger Kings indeed!
