Alison Bedford of Peregrine House in Whitby is preparing to travel to London to represent Yorkshire and Humberside at the national finals of the Great British Care Awards on Saturday 20th April.

The Yorkshire region alone encompasses 1631 care homes, but in November last year Alison rose to the challenge and was awarded Care Home Registered Manager of the Year at the regional final in York. She will now join eight other regional finalists from across the UK at the prestigious event held at Grosvenor House in London hosted by Anton Du Beke.
Alison has been at Peregrine House since 1999 where she began work in the kitchen and has worked her way up through the home, training on the job and mastering each role to reach the highly respected position she holds today. Her exceptional caring and organisational skills have helped to earn Peregrine House its own string of accolades; an Investors in People Gold Award, Excellent and Three Star rating from the Care Quality Commission and designated a Dignity in Care Champion.
Alison instigated the home’s philosophy of care, which is to treat the residents in the same way that they would the most cherished member of their own family and she ensures the whole team has the training and resources to achieve this objective consistently and to a particularly high standard.
On 6th March Alison travelled to London to be interviewed by the panel of three judges for the national award, but will not find out until the award ceremony whether she has been successful in achieving the national accolade to cap her regional title.
