Holiday season is upon us and for many dog owners that means a trip away with their dog in the UK. With some many beautiful places ideal for wonderful family walks you can see why. Travelling with your dog though can be quite a stressful experience, for us and them. So what can you do to make it easier?

As with many things iHitting the road releasen life planning is key; when mapping out your route make sure that there are plenty of opportunities for a leg stretch and toilet break for you all, and every time you stop offer your dog a drink as we all know how hot cars can get. This portable water bowlis ideal for keeping in the car as you just screw it back up when finished, meaning you aren’t constantly throwing water away. When it’s really warm consider travelling at the cooler parts of the day or if it is a long journey why not break it up with a stopover, apart from anything else it is a good excuse to visit another part of this lovely country!

What about the packing though? Well we’re blown away with this latest product which has everything your dog needs for a trip away in one compact bag. The Wag n Goholds a cushion, bowl plus two air tight containers for food and water and is easy to carry around.

As for the trip itself, first of all you need to ensure your dog is safe and legal. The Highway Code states that “When in a vehicle make sure dogs or other animals are suitably restrained so they cannot distract you while you are driving or injure you if you stop quickly”; consequently if you don’t have a dog gate or crate then a car harnessis a must. As for entertainment a DVD player won’t help but those regular breaks will help to stem the boredom, but any interaction (when safe to do so) will also keep interest up. If your dog is a nervous traveller try to make his own bed available for him to lie on, as the familiar smells will help to contain his nerves. It is also worth considering aCalming Sprayto help keep him steady.

Wherever you go we wish you all a safe and enjoyable trip.
