Just one month after opening, Skipton’s new bar and restaurant, No.1 Bar & Grill, has attracted a Michelin star chef to head the kitchen and take a leading role in the development of the new venture.
Graham Campbell is as Scottish as his name suggests, and was one of the youngest chefs in Scotland to gain a Michelin star whilst at The Caledonian Hotel in Oban in 2008. Since then his career has progressed as he worked alongside celebrity chef Andrew Nutter and then Paul Heathcote at his Longridge restaurant. With a new baby at home Graham is now settling in the area close to his wife’s family and is excited about the prospect of working at No1.
“It’s great to be starting with a blank canvas”, he explains “and I am looking forward to being able to really fulfil my creative potential here with an enthusiastic team that are open to new ideas”.
Graham will be showing off his impressive culinary skills with some complimentary canapés and tapas dishes at a special welcome evening this Friday 6th July from 6pm.
Owner Laura Stevens is delighted to have Graham on board after a rocky month for the Devonshire Place restaurant. Just two days before the launch last month the chef she had originally employed let them down, leaving Laura and her husband Dan to finalise the arrangements for the opening event and run the first few weeks with temporary staff. “Finally we have landed on our feet with Graham”, she explains “and we are looking forward to really taking the place forward now, leaving all the teething problems behind. We’re grateful to our customers who have been patient through our difficulties and hope that the event on Friday will reward their confidence in No1 as Skipton’s best bar and dining experience.”
