A beauty clinic and training academy for beauticians which is attracting students from as far as Iceland has taken on premises on Sackville Street in Skipton and given them a makeover as the firm outgrows its Silsden location.
CoCo Training Academy & Aesthetics is run by entrepreneur Jemma Spence, a Skipton girl who is making waves in the beauty world with her business founded in 2018.
As well as offering beauty aesthetic treatments including laser hair removal, tattoo removal and Botox to a rapidly growing client base, the training element of Jemma’s business is in great demand at home and abroad. The newly refurbished glamorous clinic on Sackville Street features dedicated space equipped with six treatment beds for hosting a series of courses in a wide range of beauty techniques.
Having grown up in the hair and beauty business working in her mother’s salon on Coach Street in Skipton as a teenager, Jemma financed her own beauty training and once qualified, soon became inundated with clients and began employing her own staff.
With an impressive list of 26 qualifications herself, she is invested in helping trainees to take their first steps in self-employment. Teaming up with local hotel owners to provide accommodation for students travelling from around the UK and Europe to attend her courses, Jemma sees her role as much a mentor as a trainer, enabling her students to make their own way in the world.
She explains “People need to feel good about themselves and there will always be a demand for beauty treatments, so there is a need for more properly trained practitioners who can work with a high degree of skill and personable manner in this intimate area of health and beauty. I aim to teach not only the techniques but the ethos of the profession”.
More than 250 up and coming professional beauticians have already been trained by the CoCo Academy and the calendar of courses is rapidly filling up beyond Spring 2023.
The Sackville Street clinic was officially opened on Sunday 13th November with fizz and canapes.
