Yorkshire firm upbeat with trio of new contracts
Yorkshire based design engineering firm Chelker Technology has won a trio of new contracts following the EU referendum.
Flying in the face of post-Brexit fears, the product development company has secured a significant contract with JW Froehlich – a global technological firm specialising in supplying equipment to the automotive industry.
It will help supply a series of innovative machines for use in developing a new breed of technologically advanced, fuel efficient petrol engines to be manufactured at Ford’s production plant based at Bridgend at the end of 2018.
In addition to the latest contract win to help create automotive engines for Ford, his engineering design firm has also secured two further significant contracts over recent months.
Again benefiting the automotive industry, Chelker Technology is to design a range of specialist production tools to Rosti Automotive, a firm that supply plastics to the motoring industry worldwide, including British car giant Jaguar Land Rover
A third new post-Brexit contract requires the firm to design a high temperature flue for a new waste to energy gasification plant being built in Hertfordshire; it will become the UK’s largest green waster energy plant and significantly contribute to the country’s waste management by reducing the volumes sent to landfill.
Managing Director of Chelker Technology Neil Kernot shrugged off suggestions of a post referendum slump as Britain negotiates and navigates its exit from the EU. He said that despite a turbulent period leading up to the referendum, he believed the manufacturing industry had rebounded quickly and continued to offer good prospects for firms like his.
“Enquiries have significantly increased lately and we are currently pitching to a number of leading businesses in the automotive, aerospace and rail industries. We have also had enquiries from a few firms that have previously been manufacturing in China. I am encouraged by the pipeline of opportunity out there and these recent contract wins underpin our confidence for the rest of the year.”
Chelker Technology was founded by Neil Kernot in 2003 and employs six people including four professionally qualified and experienced engineers, who specialise in a range of skills in design and manufacturing technology.
The firm is attending Ilkley exhibition and conference Thrive Yorkshire on September 29th in order to raise awareness among Yorkshire entrepreneurs of their services to innovative product developers.
